Reference Text

Crocodiles are large, semi-aquatic reptiles that lurk in rivers, lakes, and swamps. They are patient ambush predators, often floating just beneath the water's surface with only their eyes and nostrils exposed. Their powerful jaws can crush prey and hold it fast, and they are known to drag larger victims into the water to drown them. Crocodiles are found in warm coastal waters, marshlands, and even near human settlements where they may prey on livestock or unwary travelers. They are solitary hunters, but may tolerate others of their kind in prime basking spots. Their tough, scaly hide provides natural protection, and they can remain submerged for long periods while waiting for prey.
