Racial Features

Softpaw Climb

You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. You can move through the space of any creature that is one size larger than yours, and you do not treat the space of such creatures as difficult terrain.

Usage: None

Startle Display

When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you targets you with an attack or forces you to make a saving throw, you can use your reaction to rear up with arms spread wide, fluff your fur, and brandish your banded tail. The triggering creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or have disadvantage on the attack roll or saving throw that triggered this trait. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Usage: Proficiency bonus times per long rest

Rustwood Camouflage

You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in forested terrain, undergrowth, or areas of dense foliage. In addition, you gain proficiency in the Stealth skill if you do not already have it.

Usage: None

Plush Coat

Your thick fur protects you from chill. You have advantage on Constitution saving throws made to resist the effects of extreme cold, and you ignore difficult terrain created by nonmagical snow or ice.

Usage: None

Rules Compatibility

Primary Ruleset D&D 5.5 / SRD 5.2
Compatible Rulesets D&D 5.5 / SRD 5.2, D&D 5e / SRD 5.1
Ability Scores Base species grants no ability score increases; each lineage supplies a complete +3 package (+2/+1 or +1/+1/+1) consistent with D&D 5.5 flexible species design while remaining fully usable under legacy 5e fixed-bonus expectations.
Balance Notes Ailurans match the power level of official Small species such as halflings and gnomes. Base traits emphasize mobility, situational stealth, cold weather comfort, and a limited defensive reaction without granting flight, damage resistances, innate spellcasting beyond a cantrip-scale effect, or armor bonuses. Each lineage adds exactly +3 ability score points and three narrow utility features with proficiency-bonus limited uses, preventing stacked combat dominance at level 1.
