Racial Features

Darkvision

Accustomed to torchless tunnels, cellar streets, moonless marshes, and starlit ridges, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Usage: Always active

Coordinated Swarm

Kobolds thrive when they fight as a working pack rather than as lone champions. Once on each of your turns, when you hit a creature with an attack and at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of that creature, you deal extra damage equal to your proficiency bonus. The damage is the same type as the attack.

Usage: Once per turn

Trapmaker's Hands

You gain proficiency with thieves' tools or tinker's tools. In addition, if you are proficient with the chosen tool, you add double your proficiency bonus to Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to notice, identify, analyze, or disarm simple traps, hidden doors, pressure plates, or other mechanical hazards while using that tool.

Usage: Always active

Trail-Kept Mind

You gain proficiency in the Survival skill. If you already have proficiency in Survival, choose either History or Nature instead. Kobolds of every terrain are expected to remember roads, tunnels, water sources, safe camps, and the habits of local beasts.

Usage: Always active

Rules Compatibility

Primary Ruleset D&D 5e / SRD 5.1
Compatible Rulesets D&D 5e / SRD 5.1
Ability Scores Legacy fixed bonuses: +2 Dexterity and +1 Constitution for the base species, with no additional subrace ability modifiers.
Balance Notes This kobold species is built for legacy 5e play: it uses a standard +2 Dexterity, +1 Constitution package, a small body, and four modest core traits. Its main combat boost is limited to once-per-turn extra damage that requires ally positioning, while the remaining traits are mostly exploration and environment utility. The terrain lineages add flavor, mobility, and situational advantages without stacking flight, spellcasting, resistance, or multiple strong combat riders.
