This slimy, pulsating orb is about the size of a grapefruit and appears to be made from the congealed essence of the Asyther Lurker itself. When held, the Visceral Gaze grants the user darkvision up to 60 feet and advantage on Insight checks against Aberrations, as it allows the user to perceive their thoughts in a warped manner. However, once per day, after using this ability, the wielder must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or become overwhelmed by maddening thoughts, suffering a disadvantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened until the end of a long rest. The artifact’s unsettling nature hints at the deep, alien connection to the Asyther Lurker’s mind, which can shatter the sanity of lesser beings. Legends say it was formed from the Lurker’s own eye, preserved by its eerie magic. Use of the Visceral Gaze can lead to strange dreams and unsettling insights, reflecting the aberrant chaos that birthed it.
