Overview

The Emerald Linnorm Wake is a Celtic-inspired 5e campaign in which a colossal linnorm sleeps beneath the misty bays and glens of the Green Isles. A fanatical druidic cult, the Cradle of the Green Serpent, seeks to unbind the beast to command storm and tide.

Setting

Mist-wreathed highlands, bogs, standing stones, ringforts, kelp-rimmed coves, and submerged ruins color the land. The world blends heroic combat with diplomacy among fae courts, druidic rites, kelpie guardians, and bold frontier clans. Expect rugged coastal towns, fog-bound isles, and rituals tied to the tides.

The Main Quest

During the Confluence of Tides—the rare alignment of sun, moon, and sea—the linnorm stirs. The players must recover three relics: Eye of Taranis (hidden in a sea-ring fort), Bell of Gloine (on a cliffside chapel), and Seal of Lir (in a submerged keep). They must place the relics on cairns around the Stone Circle at dawn to seal the linnorm or bind it to a mortal oath. Failure triggers a cataclysmic storm that drowns crops and towns and drags ships to the depths.

Side Quests

  • Free a fisherwoman’s daughter taken by kelp-wraiths.

  • Help a selkie bard recover a lost song to calm the seas.

  • Resolve a feud between two ringfort clans to borrow their sacred boats.

  • Uncover a druidic betrayal within the Cradle and halt a ritual before dawn.



Central Events & Triggers

The Blood Moon rises; sea levels climb; the Stone Circle glows with blue runes. Cultists intensify their rituals, fae may lend aid at a price, and the linnorm’s awakening reshapes weather, tides, and fate in real time.
