Overview

In Pabtalonna, magic and monsters thrive. Four PCs accept a paid contract to kill the king everyone loves, while a deeper darkness lies hidden within the royal line. Side quests, class‑specific upgrades, and NPCs you can kill or adopt weave into the ending you reach.

Setting & Hook

Vasable, the emerald wilds of Mirthwood, and the Serpent River form a web of loyalties. A secret pact keeps the king's charm intact, but his ancestry guards a ritual that could unmake reality.

Main Quest

Fulfill the contract by killing the king, yet the darkness will test every choice. Side quests unlock artifacts and shift who remains loyal when the final moment comes.

Endings (three paths)

• Red Path: The King Falls. The contract is completed; the beloved king dies. The latent darkness erupts or is revealed, reshaping the realm's future and who claims power.


• Blue Path: The Veil Sealed. The king lives; the darkness is bound within a relic. Courtly reforms follow, and the party earns influence or a throne, but at a price.


• Green Path: Crown Remade. The monarchy is reimagined: a rebel or trusted ally is crowned. The darkness is driven out or redirected, and a new order begins, shaped by the party’s deeds.

Side Quests & Upgrades

• The Scribe's Secret: uncover a binding contract that hints at the true master of the king's magic; your choices tilt endings.


• Adopt or End: an orphan ally you can raise or lose to danger.


• Class Relics: items that upgrade you by class—e.g., Fighter/Paladin gains Warplate of the King's Ward; Wizard finds Codex of the Veiled Court; Ranger learns Leafbound Bow; Rogue bears the Shadow Sigil.

NPCs

Key figures (e.g., Lord Kestran, the king's Hand) can be slain or spared, while others (an orphaned child, a rebel mage) can be adopted as allies. The fate of these NPCs shapes the ending you choose.

Rewards

Renown, artifacts tailored to your class, and a lingering influence on Pabtalonna's future depending on which path you walk.
