Campaign Overview

In Shadows Over Greendale, players find themselves in the quiet hamlet of Greendale, nestled at the foot of the eerie Blackwood Forest. The villagers are plagued by a series of strange happenings: livestock are disappearing, and ominous shadows flicker at the edges of the woods. As the party investigates these unsettling events, they unwrap a mystery that threatens to engulf the entire village in darkness.

Setting

Greendale is a small, quaint village with bright gardens and kind-hearted residents. The village square has shops, an inn called the Lonesome Lantern, and a tavern that buzzes with tales of local lore. However, beyond the village lies Blackwood Forest, a dense and foreboding woodland said to be cursed. The forest is filled with shattered ruins of an ancient temple and haunted trails, rich with both peril and untold treasures.

Main Quest

The players must uncover the source of the unnatural occurrences in Greendale. Their investigation leads them deeper into Blackwood Forest, where they will confront the wicked Shadow Stalker, a malevolent spirit that feeds off the fear of the villagers. Tales speak of a powerful artifact hidden within the ancient ruins that can either weaken or strengthen the Shadow Stalker, depending on how it is used.

Side Quest

While exploring the village, the party can engage an elderly villager who believes her lost cat is trapped in Blackwood Forest. This quest serves to introduce them to the forest's dangers and is an excellent opportunity to earn the villagers’ trust.

Central Events

1. Forest Exploration: The party must overcome environmental challenges and confront wild beasts corrupted by the Shadow Stalker’s influence.


2. Unearthing the Past: The players must piece together clues about the artifact’s lore through ancient runes and remnants in the forest.


3. The Final Confrontation: The party faces the Shadow Stalker at the temple’s altar, with the fate of Greendale hinging on their actions.

Challenges

Players will face combat with corrupt woodland creatures, environmental hazards, and puzzles related to the temple's ancient defenses. They will need to work together to confront their fears and strategize combat.
