Campaign Overview
Brindlewick sits on the edge of Ashmoor Marsh. A ruthless cult known as the Feral Loom has seized control of the village, forcing villagers to work at a colossal loom beneath the windmill. The loom does not weave cloth—it weaves obedience, draining free will and binding workers to the cult's orders. Fear grips the streets, and the village guard is cowed; outsiders are watched with suspicion.
Hook
A desperate farmer offers a reward for aid; a traveling merchant warns that shipments to the loom are starving neighboring towns; a rescued child whispers of a hidden chamber where the loom grows its power.
The Quest
Main objective: liberate Brindlewick by destroying or severing the loom's power, rescuing the enslaved workers, and defeating the Weaver, the cult's enigmatic leader who channels the loom's magic.
Side Quests
Investigate missing workers, recover a family heirloom that can break enchantments, and dismantle the cult's propaganda by exposing their sources to regional authorities.
Structure
Act I: Arrival and gathering allies in Brindlewick; collect clues about the loom's power and the Weaver's identity.
Act II: The Windmill Lair—navigate hazardous gears, fight cult enforcers, and decide how to disrupt the loom's power (destroy its core, sever the ritual chain, or free workers).
Act III: The Weaver—final confrontation; choices affect Brindlewick's future: rally the villagers, exile or redeem the cult, or establish a new order of guardians.
Challenges
Social intrigue, stealth, dungeon exploration, puzzle-filled corridors with animated gears, and moral choices: is it darker to collapse the loom and risk the workers' return to poverty, or to remake the village under a shadow?
Rewards
Experience, renown, and magic items: Loomshard Dagger that untangles bindings, Coif of Quiet Minds for resistance to mind control, and a Blessing of Harvest that boosts healing and morale. The party may forge an alliance with a repentant cult acolyte who knows the loom's true weakness.
Long-term hooks
Destroying the loom reveals a larger network of mind-control magic; the rogue faction behind the loom may reach out, offering aid or temptation to the party in future troubles.
