Across the fortified city of Dawnkeep, the Dawnwatch stands vigilant. For months Scarlet Wizards have insinuated themselves into the fortress core, muting alarms and coaxing a sleeping behemoth beneath Dawnkeep to stir. Their rituals attract monsters from beyond the Wall, and a breach inches open along the ramparts. If the behemoth awakens, can it be bound, or will Dawnkeep burn in its fury?

Main quest: identify the Scarlet conspirators, disrupt the awakening, and seal the breach before dawn becomes a ruin. The PCs must locate five ritual sigils bound to the monster and scattered through Dawnkeep’s districts—the Old Catacombs, the Market Vault, the Lighthouse, the Barrow, and the Guard Tower—and neutralize them. With the sigils disabled, the awakening slows enough for a final assault in the subterranean vaults beneath the Central Spire, where the archmage of the Scarlet faction intends to complete the rite.

Side quests and hooks: a captive apprentice carries a ward-honing key and pleads for rescue; a weathered scavenger offers a map in exchange for evacuating a district; whispers speak of a traitor within Dawnwatch who believes the behemoth could be controlled as a weapon.

Setting and challenges: siege-like attrition through urban streets, crumbling wards, dwindling supplies, and the ever-present pressure of rifts opening. Players must decipher ancient wards, contend with transformed monsters, and decide whether to weaponize the creature or seal it away for good. Time is measured in dawns and breaches; every decision echoes in the city’s future.

Rewards: the Dawnwatch’s gratitude, dawnsteel armor and weapons, warding relics, and a potential alliance with reformed Scarlet wizards. The ultimate reward is a Dawnkeep that endures the coming dawn, with the city’s people counting on the party to stand again when the scarlet night falls.
