Campaign Overview

A ruthless sorcerer named Malakar the Iron Warlord has seized the Verdant March, turning towns to fortresses and plunder into power. He gains treasure through battle, using it to fuel a ritual to bind the land to his crown. The players are drawn into a struggle to reclaim the provinces, resist his war machine, and restore the realm's freedom.

Setting and Key Locations

  • Verdant March: patchwork farmland and city states under siege.

  • Greyspire Fortress: black basalt citadel perched on cliffs, Malakar's seat and stronghold.

  • Saltwind Harbor: storm battered port where smugglers move Malakar's loot.

  • Brindlekeep Ruins: ivy grown watchtower with a covert resistance and a clue to the artifacts.

  • Grimmerlow Marsh: haunted wetlands housing the Cradle of Thorns and guarded relics.



The Main Quest

Malakar shattered three relics that once kept the realm bound to the crown. The heroes must recover all three Sigils, reunite them, and perform a counter ritual at Greyspire during the Blood Moon to break the crown and topple the conqueror.

Side Quest (Investigation)

A missing caravan and a captured artificer reveal a hidden network of vaults and forged orders. Free the artificer, decipher the Sigil runes, and sabotage Malakar's treasure routes to win allies and access sealed vaults.

Central Events and Triggers

  • A border town falls to Malakar's forces, signaling Act I.

  • The capture of a resistance leader triggers Act II and demands covert strikes on forges and supply lines.

  • The Blood Moon ritual nears completion, forcing a race to Greyspire to interrupt the rite and bind the land again.



Hooks

  • A noble begs aid after a family crest is looted.

  • An old relic speaks in dreams, hinting at a path to the Sigils.

  • A tavern keeper recalls a forgotten vault map and a wary ally.



Objectives and Rewards

  • Main: Reclaim Verdidan, dethrone Malakar, restore governance and order across the realm.

  • Side: Disrupt supply lines, rescue key allies, and decode Sigil wards.

  • Rewards: land titles, factional alliances, and magic items such as the Verdant Dagger, Wardstone Cloak, and Sigil Keys that unlock hidden vaults.
