Overview

This beginner-friendly D&D 5e campaign is designed for new players and a first-time DM. It guides a party through 4–6 sessions shaped around exploration, gentle combat, and roleplay. The core objective is to stop the creeping darkness from swallowing the Verdant Valley by restoring the Dawn Beacon, a seasonal ward that once kept night at bay.

Setting

The Verdant Vale blends oak towns, river ports, and ancient ruins. Key places: Oakhollow (friendly market town), Riverwatch (harbor and fishmonger), and the Verdant Spire, a ruined emerald tower at the heart of the forest. Magic is tied to nature and the cycles of seasons, not frantic power.

The Main Quest

The Dawn Beacon has dimmed. The party must recover three fragments from distinct sites: the Grove of Whispers (an animated glade), the Glass Reef Caverns (crystal-lit tunnels beneath the sea), and the Shattered Bridge (a crumbling relic above a marsh). When reassembled atop the Spire, the beacon’s ward will awaken, pushing back the encroaching dark.

Side Quest: The Cartographer’s Map

In Oakhollow, a missing cartographer left behind a half-finished map that supposedly shows a shortcut to the Grove. Completing this quest grants a loyal ally, a magical compass, and a hint that helps the party navigate tricky terrain.

Hooks

• The annual Festival of First Light goes dim as the ward falters, drawing the party toward danger.


• A panicked merchant asks the party to recover a stolen seed bag, hinting at druidic mischief.

Rewards & Advancement

Simple milestone rewards, useful gear, and a handful of items that scale with level. The campaign emphasizes cooperation, preparation, and creative problem-solving for new players.
