Campaign Overview

The Dark Sovereign Kaelor binds Volanthrax, an ancient dragon, to guard the Shattered Crest — a mountain that divides the realm into Kaelor's Black Dominion and the free realms. Starting at level 1, the party travels from border towns through perilous passes, uncovers Kaelor's plans, and rallies factions to cross the mountain.

Setting & Factions

• The Black Dominion: Kaelor's iron rule, draconic cults, ruined cities.


• The Free Realms: duchies and clans desperate for unity.


• The Shattered Crest: a colossal mountain with blizzards, ancient dwarven ruins, and a dragon's lair.

Adventure Arc

• Act I (Levels 1–2): Investigate disruptions, rescue a diplomat, gain allies, and uncover rumors of a Dragon Key.


• Act II (Levels 2–3): Seek the dwarven ruin to recover the Dragon Key and a relic that can sever Volanthrax's mind link.


• Act III (Levels 3+): Ascend the Crest. Confront Kaelor in his fortress or bargain with Volanthrax for safe passage.

Dragon Encounter

Volanthrax is formidable but not unstoppable. The dragon's obedience can be broken by the Dragon Key relic or a failed coercion spell; players can negotiate, bargain for passage, or earn the dragon's aid in a climactic breach.

Rewards & Hooks

• Dragonflight access through the Crest, rare dragon-touched loot, factional titles, and an alliance with Volanthrax if freed.


• Side quests: rescue of a Wind Speaker, sabotage of a Black Dominion supply line, or recovering a lost artifact in a forgotten mine.

The campaign flows from initiation to the dragon's peak, offering a scalable challenge and meaningful choices. Players should reach level 3 by the Crest to ensure a fair contest with Volanthrax or a convincing negotiation path.
