Overview

A world where every race coexists under the shadow of Gorath Darkmantle, an ancient Duergar overlord who seeks to conquer the surface. The kingdoms rally their armies, ambassadors maneuver, and watchers whisper of a Convergence that could tear open planar gates. This campaign is designed for 3–17 level characters and scales epic encounters as the war escalates.

Setting

From sun-lit plains and floating cities to subterranean halls, the map is teeming with humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, dragons, and fey. The Duergar fortress Ironvault crowns the Underdark and powers war machines with dark-forged magic. The world demands diplomacy, exploration, and bold heroics as alliances are forged and broken.

The Quest

Gorath seeks the Crown of Iron and Shadow, a relic enabling a colossal gate. Five Ardent Relics—hidden in or guarded by major factions—must be recovered and combined to seal the gate again. The main quest is to locate these relics, disrupt the Convergence ritual, and unite the nations for a final siege at Ironvault Citadel.

Adventures & Side Quests

Investigate a broken peace brokered between city-states; rescue an abducted ambassador who guards a Relic map; parley with dragons, giants, and fey to secure aid; expose a traitor within the war council; delve a ruined temple to learn the true nature of the Convergence.

Campaign Beats

The Overlord begins with a siege that tests every faction. Each Relic recovered weakens his grip and reveals hidden allies among former enemies. A celestial convergence triggers the final assault; players must outmaneuver cults, counter war machines, and survive the collapse of a broken alliance.

Objectives, Challenges, and Rewards

Rally all races, claim the Relics, close the gate, and defeat Gorath. Outcomes alter borders and magic worship for generations. Rewards include the Deep Forge Armor, Worldwarden Ring, land grants, titles, and lasting alliances that empower future campaigns.
