Ember Crown of the Gloaming Spire is a 5e adventure for characters levels 3–7. The world fractured long ago when a pact between sun and shadow was sundered, and the Ember Crown was shattered to seal a rift. Four shards lie at key places: the sunlit capital of Lumenfall; the ash-swept ruins of Thornewatch; the tidal caverns of Brineholme; and the drifting Gloaming Spire, a tower that walks the dusk between day and night. The main quest is to recover the four shards, reforge the Crown at the Ziggurat of Dawn, and perform a ritual that closes the rift before a creeping army of shades spills into the material realm. Celestial alignment triggers awaken the shards and guardians. A rival sect, the Choir of Dusk, seeks to weaponize the crown to tear open the veil. Subplots arise from a desperate patron in Lumenfall, a map found in a ruined library, and a thief who knows routes through Brineholme’s tunnels. Hooks: a rescued child speaks in ember-syllables; a blind seer hands the party a weathered map; guild tensions spark skirmishes as factions vie for control of the Crown's power. Side quest ideas: decode runes in the Whispering Library to unlock warding scripts; or save a village from shadow-blight spreading from Brineholme’s caverns. Key challenges: social intrigue with mage guilds, perilous climbs up the Gloaming Spire, underwater ruins, and a moral choice about using the Crown’s power. The Crown’s shards tempt with power; each choice shapes the final ritual and future of the world. Rewards: shards grant ember-themed abilities, enhanced fire resistance, and rare spells; alliances with steadfast factions; and the living Spire itself as an ally or adversary depending on the outcome.
