Overview

Vecna ascends after centuries of dormancy. The Eye and Hand phylacteries resurface, hinting at a ritual at the Convergence of Stars that would bind Vecna's will to the mortal world. A coalition of cults, corrupted guilds, and rival nations pull the party into distrust and danger as they race to stop the ritual or broker a perilous bargain.

Setting

The shattered realm of Aeloria, where fallen towers crumble into mist. Across the Shattered Vale, Free Cities thrive beside haunted wastelands. Ruins and clockwork catacombs guard forgotten knowledge.

The Main Quest

Secure and shatter Vecna's three phylacteries (Eye, Hand, Crown) or sever the ritual's anchor at the Convergence of Stars. Gather allies, decipher prophecies, and navigate treachery among rival guilds and princes to prevent Vecna from rising as a deific lich.

Side Quest

Rescue a living archivist who can decipher the Eye's inscriptions; foil a rival cult's attempt to rebind Vecna to a mortal host; or escort a caravan bearing a dangerous relic to a sanctuary.

Central Events & Triggers

The Convergence of Stars occurs in two in-game months. Vecna's agents extend reach, undead storms sweep battlefields, and a betrayer in your circle may reveal a hidden plan that could doom the party.

Hooks

  • A seer prophesies a relic's awakening and asks the party to find it.

  • A patron hires the party to retrieve the Eye, promising power.

  • A trusted ally secretly serves Vecna and reveals the plan in exchange for survival.



Main Objectives

Find and secure the phylacteries, uncover Vecna's motive, stop the ritual at the Convergence, and decide Vecna's fate (banish, imprison, or claim his power with consequences).

Challenges

Powerful undead, spectral puzzles, political intrigue, moral choices about sacrificing innocents for the greater good, and time pressure as the Convergence nears.

Rewards

Glimmering necromantic gear, a pact legacy (temporary necromancy boon), access to ancient lore, and the chance to become the realm's guardian against future threats.
