Racial Features

Scaled Visage

Patches of smooth, glossy scales rim the face, the tops of the hands, and along the shoulder blades. These scales grant a small but notable toughness. You gain resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against poison.

Usage: Always

Forked Tongue

Your tongue is forked and your voice has a faint sibilant undertone. You can speak with snakes and other ophidian creatures as though under the effect of speak with animals when they are of the snake family. In addition, you gain proficiency in Deception or Persuasion (your choice at character creation).

Usage: Always

Innate Serpentine Magic

You know the poison spray cantrip. At 3rd level you can cast the animal friendship spell, but it affects only snakes and snake-like creatures and doesn’t require concentration. At 5th level you can cast suggestion once per long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Usage: Cantrip at will; Animal Friendship once per long rest (no concentration) at 3rd; Suggestion once per long rest at 5th

Silent Strike

Your partial serpentine physiology makes your movements quietly efficient. You gain proficiency in Stealth if you don’t already have it. When you make a melee attack with a finesse or natural weapon while hidden, you deal an additional 1d4 poison damage. This extra damage increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 11th, and 1d10 at 17th.

Usage: Always

Venomous Bite (Natural Weapon)

You can make a bite attack (unarmed strike) dealing 1d4 piercing damage plus your Strength or Dexterity modifier. If you choose, you can deliver a weak venom: the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or take 1d4 poison damage and have disadvantage on perception checks relying on hearing for 1 minute. You can use this venom once per short rest.

Usage: Once per short rest
