Racial Features

Instant Shift

A lycan can shift between its human and wolf-hybrid form with almost no delay. Changing form requires a bonus action. While in hybrid form a lycan retains full use of its mental faculties — intelligence, planning, and language — and can speak, wield weapons, cast spells, and use items normally. The hybrid form grants natural weapons (see Natural Weapons) and keen sensory bonuses described below.

Usage: At will (bonus action)

Natural Weapons

In hybrid form a lycan's teeth and claws are natural weapons that deal 1d6 piercing (bite) or 1d4 slashing (claws) damage plus your Strength modifier. These count as finesse weapons for the purposes of effects that care about finesse, but not for weapon-specific feats unless a DM rules otherwise. When you score a critical hit with a natural weapon, roll all damage dice twice for that attack.

Usage: Always (when in hybrid form)

Keen Nose

A lycan has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell, and gains a +2 bonus to Passive Perception if the check would use scent. In addition, a lycan can track by scent when given reasonable time, functioning as if using the Find Traces (tracking) rules with advantage over normal humanoids.

Usage: Always

Regenerative Resilience

Lycan physiology resists disease and heals faster than normal. You are immune to disease. Additionally, whenever you finish a short rest, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus (minimum of 1). This is in addition to any hit dice you expend during the short rest.

Usage: Short rest

Pack Hierarchy

Lycans are social and hierarchical. When within 30 feet of at least one willing allied lycan who can hear you, you can use a bonus action to issue a crisp command. When you do so you and each willing allied lycan within 30 feet gain advantage on attack rolls against a target you both can see until the start of your next turn. You can use this feature once per short rest. If you are an alpha (as indicated by certain subraces or class features), this ability recharges on a short rest and can be used one additional time per short rest.

Usage: Once per short rest (more if alpha)

Territorial Instinct

When on land you consider your home territory (an area you have occupied or claimed for at least one day) you gain advantage on initiative rolls and on checks and saving throws to resist being charmed or frightened while defending that territory. In that territory your movement does not provoke opportunity attacks from creatures you are hostile toward unless they can fly or otherwise ignore cover.

Usage: While in claimed territory
