Main quest: seize three Heartstones—the Heart of Remorse, the Heart of Echoes, and the Heart of the Library—hidden in catacombs guarded by an undead sentinel in each site. Once aligned, they must be shattered to stall the rite. Side quest: The Missing Cartographer. A librarian's plea reveals a lost map fragment. Recover the cartographer's journal from a haunted lighthouse to reveal a secret route to Hollowgate and earn a clue about the Heartstones’ locations. The party must disrupt the rite by visiting each site, solving puzzles, and fighting an escalating chain of undead—Zombie Warden, Specter Archivist, Wight Captain—before confronting Mordan in the Gate chamber. Challenges: Designed for two PCs at level 6 requires clever use of terrain, timing, and resource management.
